Volunteer Opportunities

Serving At THE OAKS

Our Lord Jesus Christ gave us the model of greatness: become a servant! Mark 10:45: For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Since our beginning, THE OAKS has relied upon the hearts, hands, and minds of people like you who have a passion for Christ and a willingness to serve. Your offering of service enables us to proclaim the gospel to thousands of youth and families from the urban inner city each year.

THE OAKS encompasses 658 acres surrounded by the Angeles National Forest and is located 65 miles north of Los Angeles. THE OAKS ministers to inner-city kids and families who come from World Impact's inner-city ministries. Over 13,000 youth and adults will use THE OAKS this year! Your service directly impacts the urban inner-city church planting ministry of World Impact.

We are often asked: “Who can serve?” Anyone with a willing heart! We’d welcome your bible study group, youth group, men’s / women’s group – you name it! We are also very “family friendly” – bring your kids, serve side by side and build new memories together.

What can you expect? Never a dull moment! Great food and great fellowship. Service projects that empower THE OAKS urban inner city ministry. Wonderful team building opportunities.

Service Opportunities

You service directly impacts World Impact’s urban inner-city ministry. Your service impacts every guest that comes to THE OAKS. Without you, many of our beatification and maintenance projects would not be possible. Also, every service hour offered enables us to invest money directly back into urban city ministry! Here are just a few examples of projects we have that you can help us with:

Landscaping and Beautification

THE OAKS has also developed a master landscape plan which provides the opportunity to take on many projects such as irrigation, forestation (planting trees), new hardscape and natural landscape, boulder gardens, and adding fences. There is also a significant amount of seasonal and ongoing maintenance where your service would be of great value!

Two additional unique service opportunities include our “Seasonal Adoption” and “Monthly Adoption” programs. We would like to erect a plaque showing your ongoing investment in these programs:

  • Seasonal Adoption” – THE OAKS has specific areas for seasonal planting, maintenance and improvement for both floral and natural landscape. Your ongoing help would be of great assistance!

  • Monthly Adoption” – THE OAKS has designed floral areas for new color and beauty. Monthly planting, plant rotation, and upkeep would be of immense help to us! If any of you love to garden, this is an awesome opportunity for your involvement.

Buildings and Maintenance

God has blessed us with wonderful facilities at THE OAKS. As you can imagine, there are ongoing building and maintenance needs as follows:

  • Building Maintenance – Tender care and maintenance is needed for all of our buildings. We have opportunities for service for finished carpenters, painters to work on inside and outside projects for many of our buildings.

  • Building Projects – We have building projects available for skilled trades people and team such as gazebos, new seating areas, concrete / masonry work, storage sheds, etc.

Hiking Trails and Viewpoints

Maintaining and developing new trails form an essential part of the nature experience for guests year round. Our trails stretch through our mountainous property and thrust visitors deep into our chaparral forest and desert ecosystems. You can help us with these trails while being immersed immersing in God's creation. Specific projects include: West Face trail from Price Canyon, Northwest Loop rerouting, spring trimming of our trails, and Creek Trail wildflower and natural guide documentation assistance.
