THE OAKS Camp and Conference Center

THE OAKS Staff

Mario and Heather Currado

The Currados first felt the Lord's calling to ministry at The Oaks in the fall of 2008.  Since that time, they have been pursuing that calling and are now raising support in order to live and work at the camp full time.

Mario and Heather have been married for 7 years and have two children.  Their son (Riley) is 6 and their daughter (Sage) is 4. They are currently renting a little house on Heather’s grandparents’ 8-acre property in Palmdale, which is 25 miles east of The Oaks Camp.

Mario is skilled in a variety of construction trades and has been recruited for the maintenance department at The Oaks Camp.  He grew up working in his father’s ceramic tile installation business, where he first developed his skills as a professional craftsman. He is currently running his own handyman/home improvement business in the Antelope Valley.

Mario has also worked as an adventure guide and outdoor educator in the mountains of Southern California. His experience includes mountain biking, trail running, orienteering, backpacking, class 4 whitewater rafting and kayaking, rock and ice climbing, telemark skiing, and primitive wilderness survival skills. He has worked for camps, churches, guide services and has run his own programs with Heather for local youth.  He plans to assist The Oaks’ adventure and outdoor ed departments as needed.

Heather helps Mario keep things organized and makes sure he remembers to eat three good meals a day. She is an excellent homemaker and loves to cook with homegrown foods. Before she was married, Heather played guitar, sang and wrote songs for her family’s bluegrass band.  She has worked as a tutor with the remedial reading program, Powerline, and is currently homeschooling Riley and Sage.  Riley is completing his kindergarten year with excellence!

The Currados are excited about the opportunity to invest in the spiritual lives of the guests the Lord brings to the camp.  They look forward to building relationships with them, as well working daily with the camp staff to make The Oaks a Christ-centered experience for all who live and visit there!

Please pray for the Currados as they raise support to live and work at The Oaks.  Please pray too about partnering with them by becoming a financial supporter.  If you feel led to give, please email or call Mario and Heather.  They will send you the financial support form.
