Gene and Carol Taylor

Gene and Carol are originally from Iowa and both have degrees in the field of education. They met during their college years at the University of Northern Iowa and lived most of their married life in Davenport, Iowa, where they raised two daughters. Gene was a classroom teacher before getting his masters in guidance and counseling in 1976. Most of his career was devoted to counseling young people and their families. Carol started her career as a classroom math teacher, spent a few years at home, and ended her career as an administrator with Head Start. Both Gene and Carol have had over 15 years of Biblical counseling experience in their local church.

Christ was an important part of the Taylors’ lives. Gene and Carol served in a variety of ministries with their local church as they raised their two daughters. Their oldest daughter, Kim, joined World Impact in 1993. She has been on staff at Fresno, California, and is married to Manuel Contreras. Their youngest daughter and her husband, Pattie and Phil Eager, are missionaries with TEAM and are serving in San José del Cabo in Mexico. With the girls grown, and after accepting an early retirement offer, the Taylors moved to Arizona. During that time they continued to be active in ministry, particularly in the areas of discipling and Biblical counseling. In 2006, the Taylors went to Japan for a year as missionaries at an international Christian school in Okinawa.

After much prayer and seeking God’s direction, the Taylors applied to World Impact and were accepted as missionaries in June of 2009. Gene has been appointed Member Care Coordinator for the Oaks and Carol will assist him, as well as perform other duties as assigned.

In John 10:10 Jesus says, “…I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” Gene and Carol believe Jesus wants Christians to live an abundant life and look forward with anticipation to their assignment with World Impact.
