Youth Programs at THE OAKS
THE OAKS has been offering quality programs since the early 1990's. Beginning in 1996, these programs came under the direction of our first full time program director. Each year we serve over 700 urban and at-risk youth through our programs.
We are not a main streaming camp where we do one or two urban weeks in the summer. Your kids are who we are here to serve - not a secondary focus. Here, you are the majority, not a minority. Because of this fact, we are thankful to be able to offer some of the most effective programs out there.
Our goal is for each camper who comes to THE OAKS to FIND A PLACE OF REFUGE, to BE A KID AGAIN, and DISCOVER IDENTITY through new activities and ultimately in Jesus Christ. We believe that a camp is a valuable experience in itself, no matter what. But without the church, its fruits will quickly die or at least not be what they could be. That's why we exist, to support the efforts of World Impact urban church plants and other urban ministries. Youth leaders and city missionaries come to camp with the kids, that way, long-term relationships and follow-up with the kids is included in their mountain-top experience.
Please contact us about bringing your ministry for one of our events coming up! Unfortunately, at this time, we do not accept individual registrations.

I had two students come forward during the Gang seminar to pray with Pepe to receive Christ and about 10-12 recommit their lives to Christ. One of these boys had just gone to court the day before and is on probation for tagging, truancy and hanging out with ers from our neighborhood. We were so shocked and excited when he went forward. He has been coming to the Learning Center since to do his homework and get back on track for graduation. He has dealt with a lot in his childhood, particularly sexual abuse. This camp was truly a huge step for him - he wasn't even going to come until the last minute when he changed his mind. Praise the Lord.
