This summer THE OAKS will be transformed into the European Middle Ages where campers will be treated as royalty - as they should be, as they really are in God's Kingdom. Last year campers learned about Finding Freedom in Forgiveness at The Wild, Wild West. To to take this theme deeper into the hearts of each camper, we will be focusing on the greatest act of freedom. "What is that?" you ask. The greatest act of freedom is to choose love.
We can only choose love, because He first loved us. It's kind of a backwards thing. The world tells us to do things for ourselves, love tells us to put others before ourselves. The world tells us to step on who ever to get where you want to go, love tells us to build one another up. And although there is a push in America right now to serve, to be a part of your community and even to wear love, peace and hope on the arm of your favorite hoody (Doubt me? Just go to the nearest Wal-mart) our campers just aren't buying into it as these don't define true love, joy, and peace. Basically, it is our goal to tell our campers this summer that there is another way.
Campers will spend time exploring and learning about The Kindgom, and be encouraged our campers to join the revolution. When we have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we automatically become Citizens of the Kingdom. As Citizens we are responsible to follow His ways, especially His two greatest commands: Love God and love people. This is how we demonstrate to the rest of the world that the King reigns in our lives and that The Kingdom is alive.

Summer 2008 Recap:
Finding freedom in forgiveness, that's what the Wild Wild West was all about! Galatians 5:1 says this, "It is for FREEDOM that Christ has set us free. STAND FIRM, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." We continued our quest to STAND FIRM, by discovering what it looks like to live in freedom. First graders through Seniors in High School could relate to this relevant theme, and many lives were changed as they received Jesus Christ's complete forgiveness. As they walk that out a deep freedom comes through the power of the Holy Spirit. There is freedom in forgiveness. Summer of 2009's theme to be released at the beginning of the year. In the mean time, contact our Registrar, Samantha Banks, to save your ministries' spot!
