Summer Staff Positions

Cabin Leaders form the core of our summer camp program. Spending almost every day of the summer with your cabins will give you the chance to stretch yourself to love when it is hardest to do so. Cabin Leaders will lead their cabins at meal times, through classes, and meetings, during many activities and even at rest time. Your primary goal is to live a Christ centered life in front of them, and to take every opportunity to teach them about Christ, to answer their many questions about God, and to affirm in them the truth of the gospel.

Minimum age 19 or one year of completed college or equivalent life experience.
Starting salary is $220/week. Room and Board provided for duration of employment.

Job Description

Coffee House Barista/Dining Hall Assistant

Arrival date: June 10th, 2018. End date: August 8th, 2018

Work at Camp Grounds, our on-site camp store and coffee house Monday through Thursday, and Saturday afternoons. Make espresso drinks and smoothies, run the cash register, perform daily cleaning and restocking duties. Assist with coffee craft classes and help with special camp events including weekly carnivals and parties. May assist other teams and classes as time allows.

Minimum age 18. Starting salary is $220/week.

Summer Service Staff

The Summer service staff will provide critical operational support for multiple department. These people should be willing to work to honor God and provide an experience for all those that attend summer camp and/or their own retreats. This position provides people the ability to work in departments such as food service, Guest Relations, Accommodations and Program. Assists with the other summer camp teams as job and supervisor allow.

Minimum age for this position is 18. Starting salary is $220/week.

Adventure Staff

Arrival Date: June 3rd, 2018. End Date: August 8th, 2018.

Teaches rock climbing, hiking and other adventure related activities for morning classes. Also Facilitates free-time adventure activities (zip-line, high ropes course, leap of faith, laser tag, paintball, campout and team building). Responsible for setting up and maintaining all adventure areas and supporting other ministry areas as needed.

Minimum age for this position is 18. Starting salary is $220/week.

Arts & Crafts Assistant

The Assistant Arts & Crafts Leader is responsible for assisting the Arts & Crafts Leader in decorating the Hamblen Dining Hall and Fire Circle in alignment with the planned summer theme. The Assistant Arts & Crafts Leader also develops and facilitate Graffiti arts and crafts classes as well as assists in developing and facilitating free time arts and crafts activities for all five weeks of summer camps. This position will assist with arts and crafts activities that are planned for Week in the City which occurs prior to summer camps. This position will also assist with other activities such as meal hosting, party setup / tear down, carnival, supervising cabins as needed, etc.

Minimum age for this position is 18. Starting salary is $220/week.

Archery Leader

Arrival Date: June 3rd 2017. End Date: August 8th, 2017.

The Archery Leader is responsible for facilitating five weeks of archery during morning class time and afternoon free time. The Archery Leader will develop a curriculum during the training weeks of camp with the intent of helping campers acquire basic archery skills. During the five weeks of camp, The Archery Leader will instruct campers during the morning class times and facilitate archery during the free time hours. The Archery leader will also facilitate archery activities for guest groups during the weekend as needed. This position will also assist with other activities such as meal hosting, party setup/tear down, carnival, supervising cabins, etc.

Minimum age for this position is 20. Starting salary is $220/week.

First Aid Center Leader

This position is an integral part of The Oaks’ mission to provide excellent Christ centered youth programs for urban youth and families. The First Aid Center Leader is responsible for the supervision and provision of First Aid services while adhering to governing regulations, policies, and procedures.

Job Description

Nurse Assistant

Arrival Date: June 3rd, 2017. End Date: August 8th 2017.

Assist medical staff with daily duties in the care and administration of medical needs for staff and guests at camp. Work a daily shift Sunday through Friday. Assist with special camp events including weekly carnivals and parties as available. Participate in summer staff life. Preference given to individuals studying for degrees in nursing, sports medicine, and physical training; clinical health experience required. Minimum age 19 or one year of completed college or equivalent life experience.

This position will assist with other activities such as lunch meal games, meal hosting, evening lights out, party set-up/tear-down, carnival, supervising cabins as needed, etc.

They are responsible for leading the Sports and Recreation Team to facilitate large group games and various sports and recreation activities within our summer program. The Sports & Recreation Leader also designs curriculum for sports classes as well as orchestrates special events like Carnival and Party. This position also helps with various tasks as assigned by leaders.

Media Team Leader

The Media Team Leader is responsible to capture fun and meaningful aspects of camp through video and film. They also assist session teams in sound and audio visual needs. The Media Team Leader will develops, administer, staff and safely maintain media equipment and cooperative within a summer ministry team through a solid walk with God, good judgment and excellent leadership skills. Assists with the other summer camp teams as job and supervisor allow.

The Landscape crew at The Oaks is responsible for caring for established lawns, trees and plants as well installing new landscaping, gathering and removing litter and debris, maintaining drainage and irrigation systems, maintaining roads, sidewalks and fences, equipment maintenance, pest eradication, and maintaining a safe, clean and organized work space. We take great pride in our beautiful setting and providing our guests with the opportunity to enjoy great community and grow in their relationship with God through their service in God’s creation.

The Oaks Food Service team is seeking qualified individuals to fill multiple roles including as a Team Leader, Line Cook, and Prep Cook for mid week opporunities. Serving in the kitchen extremely important to our camp experience. We take great pride in serving delicious, memorable meals as well as maintaining a safe and clean work environment. Responsibilities can include leading personnel, ensuring that food is delivered on-time for guests, food preparation, cooking delicious recipes, washing dishes, and maintaining a safe, clean and organized work space. Through Food Service at The Oaks our guests have the opportunity to enjoy great community and grow in their relationship with God.
